Road Trip

As all of you know it is so much fun to drive across the country especially with two small children. We took off for our 25 hour drive to CA and as you can see here Grace is all ready to go. She has all of her necessary comfort items: pacifier, baby, sunglasses and hand in the shirt.
Amanda had to make sure that she was all ready for the drive as well. I am ready to go with my necessary comfort item. Don't worry I wasn't the only one with a drink William, Will and Grace all had their favorite Starbucks drinks as well. And if any of you have ever driven across Wyoming you will know that it is imperative that you have something to keep you awake.

Because this is the most exciting thing that you have to look at for the entire six hour drive across Wyoming. If any of you have ever wondered how a state can only have half a million people you need to drive Wyoming from one side to the other. There is absolutely nothing except some windmills and plenty of wind!!!!

Now Utah is a completely different story. It is absolutely beautiful!!! The mountains were covered in snow and breathtaking. Not that God did not reveal himself through the landscape of Wyoming, but it is amazing the beauty of God's creation and it was very evident in Utah. I had to take a picture of this speed limit sign. You have to enjoy driving across a state where the speed limit is 80.

Next we stopped in Vegas to see some dear friends. We had a great time catching up and the kids loved playing together. Will even got to have his very first sleep over. All three boys slept on the floor together. They slept all night and went to bed very quickly. I would have never bet on that one. We had a great night in Vegas and didn't even go down to the Strip.

We had been driving at this point for over twenty hours and with the exception of Salt Lake and Vegas we had seen very few people. LA is a completely different story. After living in Wyoming for almost 6 years and then driving across miles and miles of nothing we came into LA and it was a little bit of a shock. I was driving and William was navigating, but we both got a little stressed by all of the cars. What can I say, we just aren't very used to people. We even had to enlist the help of our little friend GPS (what a life saver). If anyone is wondering what I want for my birthday I think that would be an excellent idea.

We made it. When we finally saw the "Wo-cean," as Grace calls it, we were all so excited. It was so nice to be somewhere where you can go outside in January and not wear a parka. I don't think William will have this luxury next year. Sorry hunny!!!

All joking aside the trip went incredibly well. For all of you who were praying for us we thank you. We had no bad weather, no traffic and no major breakdowns. The kids did incredibly well and we really did have a good time. We are now settling in here and please continue to keep us in your prayers as we enjoy these next few months.
